On May 6 at approximately 1:40 a.m., an undergraduate student reported to the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) that she was the victim of an assault and battery in Harvard Yard near Houghton Library by the stairs going down toward Pusey Library. Members of the University community who have any information regarding this incident are urged to call the HUPD Criminal Investigation Division at (617) 495-1796.
HUPD reminds community members to be vigilant while walking throughout the campus and surrounding areas during both the day and night and to take appropriate precautions, such as walking with others and utilizing the shuttle bus, evening van service, and the walking escort program. Additionally, students, faculty, and staff also may call HUPD at (617) 495-1212 if they believe they are in danger while waiting for transportation. HUPD will assist with transportation whenever appropriate.
