GSD's Schwartz takes home National Design Award

Graduate School of Design (GSD) Adjunct Professor of Landscape Architecture Martha Schwartz (GSD '77) was honored for significant achievements in the field at the prestigious National Design Awards Oct. 18 at the Smithsonian's Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, in New York City. President of Martha Schwartz Partners in Cambridge, Mass., and London, Schwartz received the award for her internationally renowned work in landscape design that spans 25 years. Her diverse commissions include public and civic buildings, mixed-use developments, and urban redevelopment - all with a commitment to aesthetics and environmentally sound practices.

The National Design Awards were conceived in 1997 and launched in 2000 by the Cooper-Hewitt to honor the best in American design.
