Hellenic Studies receives Onassis

International Prize

The Center for Hellenic Studies at Harvard University has been awarded a 2006 Onassis International Prize for its ongoing commitment to the promotion of Hellenic studies throughout the world. President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias presented the award to the center's director, Gregory Nagy, the Francis Jones Professor of Classical Greek Literature, on Oct. 18 at the Athens Concert Hall in Greece.

This year's Onassis International Prizes are especially significant, as 2006 marks the 30th anniversary of the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Aristotle Onassis.
