Pulp in peril
Harvard College Library's Ordway collection of pulp magazines presents some special preservation issues. The magazines' proliferation, starting in the 1890s, was made possible with the development of very cheap paper made from wood pulp. They were never meant to last, and as their research value grows with time, so does their physical degradation. (Courtesy of Widener Library) Full story
