HARVARD GAZETTE ARCHIVES
Harvard welcomes social entrepreneurship fellowsThe creators of a Brooklyn-based professional training program for refugees; a foundation that serves Puerto Rico's homeless; and a charter school in Phoenix are among the Reynolds Foundation Fellows for 2006-07. Established by a gift from the Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation, this fellowship enables people with a demonstrated track record in social entrepreneurship to pursue master's degrees at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the Harvard School of Public Health, or the Kennedy School of Government. The fellows will also participate in a co-curricular program designed by the Kennedy School's Center for Public Leadership that includes leadership development, professional skill building, a guest speaker series, and a field trip. This fall, 14 new Reynolds Foundation Fellows are joining eight individuals who are returning for second year. As a group, they bring a wealth of experience in the nonprofit and public sectors, including work for organizations such as Teach for America, AmeriCorps, the Peace Corps, and the United Nations, as well as work for some of the country's most respected management consulting firms. Fifteen of the 22 fellows have worked in foreign countries, six have founded nonprofit organizations, and two are former Fulbright Scholars. The 2006-07 fellows, grouped according to their School affiliation, are as follows: Graduate School of Education: Monica Aguirre, Brianna Dusseault, Diane Geng, Molly Greene, and Desiree Villaroel; Harvard School of Public Health: Laura Cobb, Lindsey Cole, Jolie Delja, and Anna Miller; Kennedy School of Government: Max Anderson, Catherine Casey, José Edwards, Maria Gomez-Murphy, Colleen Gross, María Levis, Jessica Lin, Shannon Music, Ankhur Shah, Suba Sivakumaran, Paris Wallace, Darlene Walser, and Parastou Youssefi.
