Runyon Fellowship awarded to postdoc fellow

The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation named postdoctoral fellow in molecular and cellular biology Brendan N. Lilley one of its 18 postdoc fellowship recipients at its May scientific advisory committee review. According to the foundation, the recipients of this award are "outstanding young scientists conducting theoretical and experimental research that is relevant to the study of cancer and the search for cancer causes, mechanisms, therapies and prevention." The fellows' research is carried out at major research centers under the sponsorship of the nation's leading scientists.

Under the sponsorship of Joshua Sanes, professor of molecular and cellular biology, Lilley will conduct research on the regulation of neuronal polarity and synapse formation by mammalian SAD kinases. The term of the award is September 2006 through August 2009.
