Daniel Steiner, former Harvard vice president and general counsel, 72
Daniel Steiner, who died recently at age 72, was appointed Harvard's first general counsel by President Nathan M. Pusey in 1970. Following a long and distinguished Harvard career, Steiner became president of the New England Conservatory - the first non-musician ever to do so. Said Derek Bok, 'Dan Steiner was one of the wisest, most humane colleagues I have ever had.' (File photo Jane Reed/Harvard News Office) Full story
