HSPH professor picked for new program to improve medical care
Ashish Jha selected as one of 15 physicians to comprise first class
Assistant Professor of Health Policy and Management at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) Ashish Jha has been selected as one of 15 physicians to comprise the first class of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Physician Faculty Scholars Program.
The program is intended to strengthen the leadership and academic productivity of junior medical school faculty who are dedicated to improving health and health care. The awards (up to $300,000 over three years) help young physicians develop their careers in academic medicine.
Jha has focused his work on health care quality and on health care for underserved populations. He also has examined the use of information technology in potential solutions for reducing medical errors and disparities while improving overall health care quality.
An assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and a physician at the VA Boston Healthcare System and Brigham and Women's Hospital, Jha has an A.B. from Columbia College, an M.D. from HMS, and an M.P.H. from HSPH.
