Harvard Magazine's Berta Greenwald Ledecky Undergraduate Fellows for the 2006-07 academic year will be Casey N. Cep '06 and Emma M. Lind '09. The two were selected from a competitive evaluation of 20 student writers' applications for the position. The fellows will join the editorial staff during the year, contributing to the magazine as undergraduate columnists and by initiating story ideas, writing news and feature items, and editing copy before publication.

Cep, of Cordova, Md., resides in Pforzheimer House. An English concentrator, she plans to write a creative thesis next year, and will spend much of the summer reading, writing, and talking to watermen on Maryland's Eastern Shore, who figure in her prospective novel. Cep writes for the Crimson and the Advocate, and has been active in Strong Women, Strong Girls, a mentoring organization; the Ann Radcliffe Trust; teaching Sunday school at the Memorial Church; the Signet Society; and the operations of the Advocate.

Lind, of Lake Forest, Ill., is an entering resident of Winthrop House, and is currently selecting her concentration, perhaps focusing on social studies. A Crimson editor, she is also involved in the Institute of Politics Citizenship Tutoring Program and the Kuumba Singers. Lind expects to spend the summer working at SGA Youth and Family Services in Chicago.

The fellowship is supported by Jonathan J. Ledecky '79, M.B.A. '83 and named in honor of his mother.
