Law School's Randall Kennedy is Fletcher Fellow
Randall Kennedy, the Michael R. Klein Professor of Law at Harvard Law School (HLS), was recently named one of 11 scholars and artists nationwide to join the 2006 class of Alphonse Fletcher Sr. Fletcher Fellows.
The Fletcher Foundation, a nonprofit charitable organization created by Alphonse Fletcher Jr. '87 to improve race relations in American society by further advancing the broad social goals of Brown v. Board of Education, supports the fellowship, which includes a $50,000 prize.
"The committee carefully selected a distinguished class of scholars and artists," said Alphonse Fletcher Jr., chairman and CEO of Fletcher Asset Management Inc. "This class, like the inaugural group of Fletcher Fellows, will contend with and provoke significant questions related to the American experience of race in fields including sociology, history, biological anthropology, law, literature, and the dramatic and visual arts," he added.
In addressing the ongoing struggle for civil rights in the context of law and politics, Kennedy received the fellowship for his project "Where Do We Go from Here? Explorations of Race, Law, and Politics in 21st Century America."
