Trio of Crimson paddlers elected All-American

Harvard squash players Will Broadbent '06, Ilan Oren '07, and Ivy League Player of the Year Siddharth Suchde '07 have recently been named First-Team All-American selections by the College Squash Association for the 2005-06 season. The honor continues an impressive streak for the Crimson trio, with each of them having garnered All-American honors for every season that they've played in a Harvard uniform. Only national champion Trinity College matched the Crimson for number of honorees, with players from Yale, Princeton, and Penn rounding out the field.

Men's squash finished its season in early March at 7-3 overall (5-1 Ivy), sharing the title with Princeton and Yale.

Stingy play propels softball to victory

Crimson softball evened up its Ivy record (2-2; 13-14 overall) with a doubleheader sweep of Columbia on Monday (April 10) in New York City. The Crimson relied on solid pitching to keep the Lions at bay, clipping the hosts 2-1 and 1-0 in games one and two, respectively. Sophomore pitcher Shelly Madick struck out five batters in the opening contest, while giving up just three hits and a run. In the second meeting, Harvard managed the game's only run in the first inning when senior Pilar Adams sent a single to right field to score co-captain Julia Kidder '07. On the mound, Amanda Watkins '08 collected her first shutout of the season, allowing four hits and zero walks, and striking out four Lion batters.

The sweep sends Harvard to a third-place tie in league standings. Next up, the Crimson host Brown on Saturday (April 15) at 1 p.m. for a doubleheader.
