Sports in brief

Clicking Crimson roll through Albany, capture ECACHL title to advance

The Harvard men's hockey team tallied five power-play goals, including three unanswered scores in the opening frame, to eclipse Cornell, 6-2, this past Saturday (March 18) in Albany, N.Y., in the ECACHL championship game. The previous night, the Crimson (21-11-2) dismissed Dartmouth, 10-1, in the semifinals. That win was Harvard's most lopsided postseason victory ever.

As the ECACHL champs, Harvard clinches an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament for the team's fifth-straight appearance. The No. 2-seeded Crimson squad will return to Albany's Pepsi Arena this Saturday (March 25) to take on the fourth-seeded University of Maine Black Bears at 3 p.m., after the Michigan State-New Hampshire contest. The winners will then tangle in Sunday's (March 26) regional final for the right to head to Milwaukee for the Frozen Four, held April 6-8.

For tickets to the NCAA East Regional, call the Pepsi Arena at 1-800-30-EVENT. Additionally, all games will be televised nationally on ESPNU (channel 609 on DirecTV and 148 on Dish Network); regionally by ESPN Syndication; and on CN8 in Massachusetts.
