Nomination period opens for KSG's Schelling and Neustadt Awards

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2006 Richard E. Neustadt and Thomas C. Schelling awards, hosted by Harvard's Kennedy School of Government (KSG). The annual awards are intended to honor people who epitomize the excellence and impact that outstanding scholars and practitioners can bring to public policy.

Specifically, the Neustadt Award is given to an individual whose work is noteworthy for the practical application of powerful ideas involving policy or practice. Nominees for this award are likely to be practitioners, or individuals who have spent significant time as policymakers or working closely with them. The Schelling Award, meanwhile, is bestowed on an individual whose intellectual work has had a transformative impact on public policy. Nominees for this award are likely to be scholars, or individuals who have spent significant time in academia, though this is not a requirement.

Recipients will each be awarded $25,000 to be presented during a Cambridge awards ceremony on May 4. Nominations must be received by no later than Feb. 7, and may be sent to Debra Isaacson via e-mail (debra_isaacson@ksg.harvard.edu), or by mail (Debra Isaacson, Office of the Dean, KSG, 79 JFK St., Cambridge, MA., 02138). Please include the nominee's name; the name of the award for which the individual is being nominated; one to two sentences describing the individual's qualifications for the specified award; and your contact information. Current KSG employees are not eligible for these awards.
