Scholars at Risk, undergrad interns sought

The Harvard Scholars at Risk program connects the University to a national network that defends the human rights of scholars worldwide. Each year, the program (sponsored by the University Committee on Human Rights Studies [UCHRS]) awards one or more fellowships to scholars facing persecution.

Nominations for the fellowship are solicited from all members of the Harvard faculty, staff, and student body. The deadline for nominations is Dec. 16. For details, please visit http://www.humanrights.harvard.edu/scholarsatrisk. For more information, e-mail humanrights@harvard.edu, or call (617) 496-4950.

Additionally, UCHRS is currently accepting applications for its Undergraduate Human Rights Summer Internships. Up to 14 summer internships will be made available to qualified Harvard College students seeking to work for eight to 10 weeks in a human rights organization in the United States or abroad. These internships enable students to put theoretical knowledge and interests into practice and to learn about the practical challenges involved in implementing human rights. The application deadline is Feb. 21, 2006.

For instructions on how to apply, visit http://www.humanrights.harvard.edu/undergradstudy/internships.html, or contact humanrights@harvard.edu.
