Living fossil?
Amy Maxmen, who studies sea spiders (like this Nymphon stormi, above) for her Harvard Ph.D. thesis, has discovered that the pincer-like claws they sport grow out of the front part of their brains, where all other arthropods - the largest class of animals on Earth - bear only eyes.
