HARVARD GAZETTE ARCHIVES
Football refuses to lose in thrilling double OTSophomore Matt Schindel kicked two field goals for Harvard, including the game-winner - a 29-yarder in the second extra period - after Brown failed to score on its second OT possession. The victory extended Harvard's winning streak to 13 games, the longest active streak in Division I-AA football, while handing mentor Tim Murphy his 100th victory as a collegiate head coach. For his wild performance against Brown, Dawson swooped up the league's offensive player of the week award (quarterback Jeff Mroz of Yale, who threw for five touchdowns this past Saturday, was named a co-recipient). Just two games into the season, the junior rusher leads all Division I-AA players with 171 yards per game. Harvard (2-0; 1-0 Ivy) faces 11th-ranked Lehigh (2-1) this Saturday (Oct. 1) at the stadium.
