Sandel delivers Korean lectures on democracy

Anne T. and Robert M. Bass Professor of Government Michael J. Sandel traveled to Korea earlier this month to deliver the ninth annual Dasan Memorial Lectures. Sponsored by the Korean Philosophical Association, these lectures were established to expose Korean scholars and students to leading intellectuals from around the world and to build mutual understanding between Eastern and Western civilizations.

Each year, the Dasan Lectureship is awarded to an internationally recognized scholar, who is invited to present a series of four public lectures at universities throughout the country. The lectures are translated into Korean and published as a book. Sandel, the third American to be named to the lectureship, delivered his lectures under the overall title "Democracy, Community, and the Good Life."
