Reischauer Institute seeks essay submissions

The deadline for submitting works for the 2005 Noma-Reischauer Essay Prizes in Japanese Studies, given to the best graduate and undergraduate papers on a Japan-related topic, is June 30. Papers written this academic year, including course and seminar papers, undergraduate or master's theses, or essays written specifically for the competition, are eligible.

Safra Foundation has new deadline for fellowship

The Harvard University Edmond J. Safra Foundation Center for Ethics (formerly the University Center for Ethics and the Professions) has announced the deadline for its 2006-2007 Faculty Fellowships in Ethics: Nov. 1. Note that this date is earlier than in past years. Applications are invited from teachers and scholars who wish to develop their ability to address questions of moral choice in areas such as business, education, government, law, medicine, and public policy.

Applicants should hold a doctorate in philosophy, political theory, theology or a related discipline, or an advanced professional degree, and should be no more than 10 years from their first academic appointment.
