Sports in brief

Crimson fencers capture six trophies at IFA Champs

In a first for Harvard fencing, both the men's and women's teams captured the combined events of the ECAC-IFA Championships on Feb. 26 in Providence, R.I. Together the two squads took the three events outright, as the men won both the epee and saber team championships (finishing third in the foil), and the women captured the foil team championship (placing third in saber and fourth in epee).

Overall, the Ivy Champion Crimson returned to Cambridge with six trophies. Harvard next heads to New Haven, Conn., for the regional NCAA qualifier.

Women's swimming and diving takes Ivy title

Harvard's swimming and diving team sunk reigning league champion Princeton by 236 points on Feb. 26 to capture its first Ivy League meet title in 15 years. Sophomore twin sisters Stacy and Kelly Blondin placed first and second in the 1,650-yard freestyle to register provisional NCAA championship-qualifying times. With the win, the Crimson (10-0, 7-0 Ivy) collect their eighth official Ivy League championship.
