HSPH names Zelen Leadership Award winner

The Department of Biostatistics at the Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) recently named Ross L. Prentice of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Public Health Sciences, the 2005 recipient of its Marvin Zelen Leadership Award in Statistical Science. Prentice will deliver a lecture on June 3 at the School and be presented with a citation and an honorarium.

This annual award, established to honor Zelen's distinguished career as a statistician, recognizes an individual in government, industry, or academia who has greatly impacted the theory and practice of statistical science. Special attention is paid to the awardee's contribution to the creation of an environment in which statistical science and its applications have flourished.

Nominations for next year's award should be sent to the Marvin Zelen Leadership Award Committee, Department of Biostatistics, SPH, 655 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02115. Nominations should include a letter describing the contributions of the candidate, specifically highlighting the criteria for the award, and a curriculum vita. In addition, the submission of supporting letters and materials are encouraged. Nominations must be received by Nov. 1.
