Nominations sought for Scholars at Risk fellows

Each year, the Harvard Scholars at Risk committee provides a fellowship for at least one persecuted scholar to come to Cambridge for up to one year. The risk of persecution may be related to the scholar's work, but it may also be a consequence of his or her ethnicity, religion, or political opinions. An interdisciplinary faculty committee reviews nominations and selects the scholar.

Scholars, including writers and public intellectuals, from any discipline represented at Harvard are eligible. The scholar will be hosted as a visiting fellow in the appropriate academic department.

Nominations for the fellowship are solicited from all members of the Harvard faculty, staff, and student body. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 17. Nomination forms and details of the Scholars at Risk initiative, including a list of the members of the selection committee, are available through the University Committee on Human Rights Studies' Web site at http://www.humanrights.harvard.edu.

Fellowship submissions may be sent by e-mail: humanrights@harvard.edu; fax: (617) 496-4950; or post: David Rubenstein Building 112, Kennedy School of Government, 79 John F. Kennedy St., Cambridge, MA, 02138.
