Harvard breaks Quakers' home streak, grabs share of Ivy

As if playing for a share of the Ivy League title wasn't enough pressure, the Harvard football team entered this past Saturday's game (Nov. 13) against fellow unbeaten Penn with the stigma of a 24-year losing streak at Franklin Field weighing on their shoulder-pads. Not a team to shy away from adversity, apparently, the Crimson strutted its league-leading offensive stuff to soundly beat the host Quakers, 31-10 - making this 2004 Harvard team the first to win in Philly since Reagan's first inauguration.

The win keeps the Crimson perfect at 9-0 (6-0 Ivy), extending the team's victory streak to 10 games (including the 2003 season) - the longest in Division 1-AA football. What's more, in knocking off Penn (7-2; 5-1 Ivy), Harvard ensured itself at least a share of the Ivy League title. The Crimson can win the championship outright if Penn falls at Cornell, or if Harvard beats visiting Yale (5-4, 3-3 Ivy) in the 121st playing of 'The Game,' going down this Saturday (Nov. 20) at 12:30 p.m. Visit http://www.gocrimson.com for the latest.
