Terror and freedom
Alberto Abadie, associate professor of public policy at the Kennedy School, has cast doubt on the widely held belief that terrorism stems from poverty, finding instead that terrorist violence is related to a nation's level of political freedom. Societies at both the open and repressive ends of the spectrum experience the least terrorism; societies making the transition to democratic governments seem to be most vulnerable.
