Back to school:

University through fresh eyes

As hundreds of first year students strode, ambled, or tiptoed through their new crimson and green and only slightly intimidating surroundings during Freshman Week, there were events aplenty to help them adjust. For instance, there was the venerable Freshman Barbecue, which took place on the lawn between Sever Hall and the Fogg Museum - in attendance, honored guest President Lawrence H. Summers.

The president also took part in a voter drive at Loker Commons sponsored by the KSG's Institute of Politics to encourage freshmen to register to vote.

And there was the colorful, engaging, overpopulated Freshmen Activities Fair, where first-years were persuaded, cajoled, and enticed to join groups ranging from Kendo Club to chorus to a cappella to athletic activities.
