Community Advisory

On Tuesday, April 2, at 8:05 p.m., the Harvard University Police Department (HUPD) responded to Peabody Terrace on the report of an indecent assault. The graduate student victim reports the assailant alleged he was a tenant of the building but had forgotten his keys. The assailant entered the lobby and the elevator with the victim, then grabbed the inside of the victim's thigh. The assailant fled the building in an unknown direction. A thorough search of the area by HUPD and the Cambridge Police Department proved negative.

The suspect is described as a black male, between 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, in his mid-teens, thin build (about 120 pounds), with braided hair that sticks up, wearing a gray T-shirt, loose jeans, and carrying an over-the-shoulder bag.

The victim asked the subject, "Can I help you?" and the assailant used the ruse of allegedly belonging in the building. If you do not recognize an individual requesting access to any building, please refer the individual to building authorities or contact HUPD at (617) 495-1215.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the HUPD, Criminal Investigation Unit, at (617) 495-1796, or the Cambridge Police Department, Criminal Investigation Unit, at (617) 349-3370.
