Gifts from Kiev

Sidney Verba
Gennadii Boriak of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences presented a guide to the Central State Archive of Public Organizations of Ukraine to Harvard University in December. Sidney Verba (above), director of the University Library, accepted the unique gift, which is the first guide to a Communist Party archive to be published in the Ukraine. The records contain extensive documentation on Ukrainian society throughout the 20th century, from the revolutionary period to World War II to political development in the 1980s to the Chernobyl disaster.
