Crimson Dance Team steps to top in nationals

The Crimson Dance Team took first place in both the team routine and style routine competitions at the National Dance Alliance (NDA) Collegiate Dance Camp held Aug. 24-26 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. In taking home both possible first place trophies, the Crimson team topped 15 other crews from across the country.

Under the tutelage of recent dance team alumna, Kimberlee Garris '01, the five returning team members - Vedra Chandler '02, Melanie Green '04, Maya Horii '02, Natasha Kennedy-Paesler '04, and Marie-Therese Panlilio '02 - also claimed the "Superior" ribbon for team evaluation and earned a qualifying bid for the NDA Collegiate Nationals.

In individual efforts, Horii was awarded a medal and certificate naming her a dance team All-American.
