Crimson cook at home; sizzle at Penn Relays

The Harvard men's and women's track teams hosted a non-scoring meet with Boston College this past Sunday, April 29. Senior John Kraay doubled as winner in the shot put and discus, while sophomores John Traugott and Chris Antunes finished one and two in the men's 800-meter run with a winning time of 1 minute, 52.55 seconds.

The Crimson also captured four individual events and one relay at the 107th edition of the Penn Relays this past Thursday, April 26, through Saturday, April 28. It was Harvard's best showing ever for the weekend.

Kraay won the Eastern men's shot put with a heave of 54-8 while senior teammate Chris Clever took the javelin with the third best throw in the country this year at 242-1.

The women won the mile relay with a time of 3:44.26. Senior Dora Gyorffy broke the Penn Relays high jump record and tied a personal best with a leap of 1.9 meters (6 feet, 3 1/4 inches), while senior Brenda Taylor won the 400-meter hurdles in 56.11, the fastest time in the NCAA this year.

With a successful weekend behind them, the Crimson is setting its sights on the Heptagonal Championships in Princeton this coming Saturday, May 5.
