Children's Initiative announces research awards

In honor of Jerome Kagan, the Daniel and Amy Starch Research Professor of Psychology, The Harvard Children's Initiative and the Mind/Brain/Behavior Initiative have announced research awards of up to $1,500. Proposed research projects, to be carried out this summer, must relate to children and are open to any discipline. Harvard College students with sophomore and junior standing in spring '01 are eligible to apply. The application deadline is Wednesday, April 11.

Award winner to give recital

Kristin Naragon '03, the winner of the Boston chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO) competition last month in Brookline, Mass., will be performing today (March 8), at Adolphus Busch Hall, at 12:10 p.m. The concert is part of the Harvard Organ Society's lunchtime recital series. This summer, Naragon, who is the president of the Harvard Organ Society, will go to the AGO's New England regional competition in Portland, Maine.

Thesis fellowships available from World Religions center

The Center for the Study of World Religions (CSWR) thesis fellowship opportunity is available to juniors in any Harvard College program whose senior thesis research will focus primarily on the study of religious phenomena. The award consists of a $1,200 stipend, which may be applied to any research-related expenses, including travel, or special language study. The application deadline is Monday, April 16.

UOS gets new transport vans

University Operation Services (UOS) has upgraded its fleet of 1995 shuttle vans with four new passenger transport vans. The new vehicles, which are serviced and maintained by UOS' Fleet Management Services, are equipped with state-of-the-art wheelchair lifts and large double-door entry. Approximately 200 members of the Harvard community use the daytime and evening van shuttle service each day.
