Attempted unarmed robbery at Leverett Towers Pathway
A University graduate student was the victim of an attempted unarmed robbery while talking on his cellular phone on Wednesday, Feb. 21, at approximately 7:59 p.m., on the pathway behind Leverett Towers. Prior to the assault, the student had walked past three subjects at the corner of Grant and Athens streets. When the student walked down the pathway behind Leverett Towers from Grant Street to Cowperthwaite Street, he was approached from behind by one of the subjects. The subject hit the student in the back of the head and attempted to take the student's cellular phone. The phone fell from the student's hand and the suspect fled down the pathway to Grant Street. All three subjects then fled down Grant Street toward Banks Street.
The Harvard University Police Department conducted a thorough check of the area with negative results.
The three suspects are described as black males between the ages of 16 and 18. One of the suspects is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall with light skin, curly hair, and was possibly wearing a red sweatshirt underneath a dark gray puffy jacket. The other two suspects are described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, each wearing dark puffy jackets and dark pants.
