Under threatening skies and windy conditions, over 300 Harvard tennis fans and alumni joined in the celebration to dedicate the new Beren Tennis Center. The ceremony, held on center court, featured comments by Harvard Dean of Faculty Jeremy R. Knowles, Harvard Director of Athletics William J. Cleary, Men’s Tennis Head Coach David Fish ’75 and Robert M. Beren ’47. The Harvard University Band, the Harvard University Police Honor Guard, and the Harvard Din & Tonics also joined the crowd in the festivities and ribbon cutting ceremony.

Harvard officially dedicated the revamped Beren Tennis Center in the name of Robert M. Beren '47 with a brief ceremony and then pulled out a number of close matches to record a 6-1 victory over visiting Ivy League rival Pennsylvania. After edging out Princeton, 4-3, at the new outdoor facility on Friday, the Crimson is now 2-0 at its new home. Today's victory also extended the Crimson’s home winning streak to 39 matches. The team is now 14-15, Ivy 8-3.

Number one singles player and co-captain John Doran '00 serves one up against his Princeton opponent. Doran won both his singles and doubles matches, where he teamed up successfully with teammate Cillie Swart.

Co-captain Joe Green '00 returns a forehand against his Princeton singles opponent. Harvard defeated Princeton 4-3 to raise their Ivy record to 3-1. Co-captains Green and Doran are first cousins, and hail from Dublin, Ireland.
