HARVARD GAZETTE ARCHIVES Faculty Council -- Dec. 15
Two proposals for new degrees were presented at this week's Faculty Council meeting. Professors Henry Louis Gates Jr. and K. Anthony Appiah discussed with the Council the establishment of a Doctor of Philosophy degree program in African-American studies in the Afro-American Studies Department. Professors Thomas Forrest Kelly and Robert D. Levin also discussed with the Council the establishment of a Master of Arts degree program in Music, with a speciality in performance practice, in the Department of Music. The Council's next meeting is on Jan. 12. The January Faculty Meeting is expected to be canceled. The next Faculty Meeting therefore will be on Feb. 15, 2000.
