Mack Named Reginald F. Lewis Fellow for Legal Teaching

Kenneth W. Mack, JD ’91, is the Reginald F. Lewis Fellow for Legal Teaching for 1999-00. The Lewis Fellowship seeks to train prospective legal teachers who will enhance diversity within the profession.

Mack is using the fellowship as an opportunity to write several chapters of his doctoral dissertation, which examines the development of the black legal profession between 1920 and 1960.

The Lewis Fellowship is supported by a gift from Reginald F. Lewis, Law School Class of 1968. Lewis was the chair and CEO of TLC Beatrice Foods International before his death in 1993.

Scholars in Medicine Program honors three McLean Hospital staff

Three McLean Hospital doctors – Sabina Berretta, instructor in psychiatry; Shelly Greenfield, assistant professor of psychiatry; and Hadine Joffe, instructor in psychiatry – were each awarded $25,000 fellowships by Harvard Medical School during its 50th Anniversary Program for Scholars in Medicine.

Berretta will use the fellowship to continue her research involving amygdala and other corico-limbic structures. Greenfield will continue her research exploring gender differences in recovery from alcohol dependence, and Joffe will continue her study of the effects of hormone replacement therapy on memory in postmenopausal women.

Established in 1995 to honor the 50th anniversary of the admission of women to Harvard Medical School, the Scholars in Medicine Program aims to acknowledge the contributions women have made to the School and to enhance the quality and diversity of the Faculty of Medicine.
