Community Gifts Campaign Announces Prize Winners

Paul Grogan, Vice President for Government, Community, and Public Affairs, has set ambitious goals for this year’s Community Gifts Through Harvard Campaign. Grogan, who chairs the campaign, wants to raise $880,000 with a participation rate of 50 percent.

Getting half of Harvard’s employees to participate in the campaign seems particularly challenging, considering that last year’s rate was 37 percent. But Grogan thinks it can be done. As a way of thanking the keypeople and solicitors in the Campaign for their extra effort, he is offering a series of drawings with prizes.

The drawings started Tues, Nov. 30, and will continue Dec. 7, 14, and 21, with the names of all keypeople entered into a drawing. Keypeople may add the names of solicitors who have been particularly helpful by e-mailing their names and phone numbers to maryann_jarvis@harvard.edu. Following is a list of the prizes and the people who won them in this week’s drawing:

$50 gift certificate to the Harvard Collections Store – Jane Moody, Office of the President; $50 to your charity of choice – Fran Feldman — FAS, Germanic Languages; $50 gift certificate to Trader Joe’s – Esther Debordes-Jackson — HMS; $50 basket of fruit and other fine foods – Beth Doherty — FAS, Office of Career Services; $50 gift certificate to the Harvard Coop – Douglas Winsor — HGSE

At the end of the Campaign, the department that has the greatest increase in participation will be recognized in the Harvard University Gazette and celebrated with a $500 contribution to the charity of its choice.
