HOLLIS Website Now Offers Improved Features

Accessing and searching the Harvard University Library Catalog just got a whole lot easier.

HOLLIS Web (http://hollisweb.harvard.edu), which provides direct access to the Public Catalog from a Web browser, was significantly revamped over the summer.

Most notably, the site now features clickable links. These links include traceable headings, circulation and holdings displays, and entries on index and guide screens. Even the command options at the bottom of each screen are clickable.

The new HOLLIS Web retains one of its old problems, however. Users navigating the site with the browser's "back" and "forward" buttons will very likely cause their session to fail. This is because the browser back and forward buttons have no meaning for HOLLIS. To avoid any potential problems, simply use the commands provided by HOLLIS.

Netscape Navigator version 3.x or Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 3.x and above are recommended for accessing the new HOLLIS Web.

Questions about HOLLIS Web should be directed to Caren Smith, HOLLIS Web Project Manager (caren_smith@harvard.edu).
