No Gazette Thanksgiving week; Calendar section deadlines altered

The Gazette does not publish during Thanksgiving week. The deadline for Calendar submissions for the Nov. 18 issue, which will include events occurring through Dec. 9, is Wednesday, Nov. 10, by 5 p.m. The deadline for the Dec. 2 issue, which will include events occurring through Dec. 16, is Thursday, Nov. 18, by 5 p.m. For more information on Calendar submissions, please call (617) 495-1585.

Ethics Center offers faculty, graduate student fellowships

The Center for Ethics and the Professions is accepting applications for 2000-01 residential faculty fellowships in ethics from teachers and scholars who hold a doctorate or professional degree. The application deadline is Dec. 1. The Center is also offering graduate fellowships in ethics for 2000-01 for Harvard graduate students who are writing dissertations or are engaged in major research on topics in practical ethics. The application deadline is Nov. 15. Harvard Foundation Sponsors Event on Hate Crimes

The Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations will present "Hate Crimes in America: A Search for Solutions" on Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in Sanders Theatre. The panel will feature Michael Sandel, professor of government; Robert Nozick, Arthur Kingsley Porter Professor of Philosophy; Gary Orfield, professor of education and social policy; Marcelo Suarez-Orozco, professor of education; and Lisa Cook, fellow at the Center for International Development.

Benefit ball to support CityStep

A black-tie CityStep annual benefit ball called "A Step into the Millennium," will take place at the Westin Hotel in Boston, on Friday, Nov. 12, starting at 9 p.m. Tickets are $15 and are available at the Harvard Box Offic e.CityStep is a student organization that enriches the educational experience of Cambridge fifth- and sixth-graders through a curriculum of dance and other creative activities.

Faculty Club holding Lobster Fest
