Law School Classroom Dedication To Honor Vorenberg
Former Law School Dean James Vorenberg will be honored during an Oct. 22 ceremony dedicating the newly renovated Vorenberg Classroom in Langdell Hall. Vorenberg, currently the Roscoe Pound Professor of Law, served as the ninth dean of Harvard Law School between 1981 and 1989. The dedication ceremony will begin at 5 p.m., in Langdell Hall, 1545 Massachusetts Ave., and will include remarks by Dean Robert Clark; New York Times Columnist Anthony Lewis; Benjamin Kaplan, Royall Professor of Law Emeritus and former Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Associate Justice; Jerome Facher of the law firm of Hale and Dorr; and Charles J. Ogletree Jr., Jesse Climenko Professor of Law and Faculty Director of Harvard Law Schools Clinical Programs. The newly renovated classroom, formerly known as the Langdell North classroom, features improved acoustic paneling, a lowered ceiling, and improved lighting designed to create a more intimate classroom environment and facilitate interaction between students and professors. Additional enhancements include ethernet ports for each student and more comfortable seating. Vorenbergs academic interest is in the area of criminal justice. In addition to serving as dean and teaching at Harvard Law School for nearly four decades, Vorenberg has been director of the Presidents Crime Commission, associate Watergate prosecutor, and chairman of the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission. He received an A.B. from Harvard College in 1948 and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1951.
