UBC report available online

The University Benefits Committee (UBC) has issued its report for AY99. The 1998-99 academic year was another very active and productive period for the UBC. The Committee initiated three major policy recommendations, all of which were subsequently adopted. The full text of the report is available at http://www.provost.harvard.edu

World religions center to offer fellowships, residence program

The Center for the Study of World Religions is offering the following two programs:

Dissertation Fellowships are available for Harvard University doctoral dissertation research that involves substantial study of religious phenomena. The Center for the Study of World Religions Fellowships include a one-year stipend of $10,000 and the option of residence at the Center. The deadline is Jan. 15, 2000.

The Fellows-in-Residence Program allows any Harvard University doctoral students whose research focuses on the historical and comparative study of religions the opportunity to reside at the Center.

Management workshops available at Radcliffe Seminars

Radcliffe Seminars' Management Program offers one-day workshops with hands-on training in practical and professional skills as well as management theory. Upcoming workshops include Techniques to Increase Creativity, Friday, Nov. 5, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; Why People Don’t Buy Things: The New Science of Selling Products, Services, and Ideas, Friday, Nov. 19, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; and Sensitive and Difficult Communications, Friday, Dec. 10, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. All workshops are $275 including lunch and materials ($40 with TAP). McLean Hospital to provide mental health facts for Internet site

The Harvard-affiliated McLean Hospital will co-sponsor and provide content for a local channel of America Online. McLean has partnered with HelpNet, an organization that maintains an online database of mental health and substance abuse resources in Massachusetts. Together, McLean and HelpNet will provide editorial content for Digital City Boston's mental health and addictions "condition centers." The condition centers can be found in Digital City's Health section at http://www.digitalcity.com/boston.

Topics that may be found on the site include teenage brain development, depression screenings, and eating disorders.
