SEMINARDelving Deeper into the Substance and Symbolism of Japanese LacquerAnne Rose Kitagawa, assistant curator for Japanese artTuesdays, Nov. 16, 23, 30, 67:30 p.m.Arthur M. Sackler Museum, 485 Broadway This three-part seminar series focuses on the role of urushi (lacquer) in Japanese culture, examining the history, technology, artistry, and imagery of this fascinating medium. Each session will begin with a brief slide presentation followed by a study of objects from the recently acquired Elaine Ehrenkranz Collection of Japanese Lacquer Boxes. Tickets are $100; $75 for Friends of the Art Museums. Advanced registration is required; please call (617) 495-4544 for registration information. The Art Museums are open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.5 p.m., and Sunday, 1 p.m.5 p.m. Closed national holidays. Admission is $5; $4 for senior citizens; $3 for students; free to children under 18 and to all individuals on Saturday mornings, 10 a.m.noon, and all day on Wednesdays.
