Staying Afloat

How’s my backstroke look? About 100 children, from ages 7 to 17, spend time at the University’s Blodgett Pool improving their swimming technique at the Technique Swim Camp at Harvard.

Held each summer, the program – which is run by Harvard Head Swimming Coaches Stephanie Wriede and Tim Murphy – offers instructive feedback and underwater videotaping. The swimmers also get tips from former Olympians.

Louis Fram practices his backstroke start, while Colby Blake and Julia Fram (wearing goggles) look on. Louis Fram (left) and Joe Lessard learn "the backstroke roll" from counselor Leslie Allen.
