Faculty Council

At the Faculty Council's fifteenth meeting of the year, Vice President for Finance Elizabeth Huidekoper and Peter Segall, executive director of Project ADAPT, briefed the Council on the implementation of ADAPT.

The Council also received a report from the Advisory Committee on Administrative Board Procedures Relating to Serious Criminal Wrongdoing. Professors Peter Ellison (Anthropology) and Louise Richardson (Government), members of the Committee, and University Attorney Robert Iuliano were present for this discussion.

In addition, Dean of the College Harry R. Lewis (Engineering and Applied Sciences) presented language concerning Involuntary Leaves of Absence for inclusion in next year's Handbook for Students, and a report on the use of the disciplinary categories of dismissal and expulsion.

The following were elected to the Faculty Council for three-year terms starting July 1, l999: Stephanie Jamison (Sanskrit and Indian Studies); Peter Marsden (Sociology); Katherine Park (History of Science); Daniel Schrag (Earth and Planetary Sciences); Stuart Shieber (Engineering and Applied Sciences); and Werner Sollors (Afro- American Studies and English and American Literature and Language).

The preliminary agenda deadline for the May 4 Faculty Meeting is Monday, April 19, at 9:30 a.m. The Council next meets on April 28.
