The Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations will award up to five two-year fellowships to Harvard doctoral/advanced degree candidates. The fellowships will support dissertation writing on a nonprofit sector topic. To be eligible for a fellowship beginning in September 1999, students must have completed all coursework, general examinations, and have an approved dissertation research proposal. The fellowship includes a stipend, reimbursement for tuition and other fees, a travel allowance, and shared office space/computer access. Applications and all supporting documents are due by Feb. 15. The Hauser Center for Nonprofit Organizations, the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council and the KSG faculty selection committee will select one talented Kennedy School student of color as the 1999 recipient of NACC Nonprofit Management and Leadership Opportunity Scholarship. Eligible candidates are students of color enrolled at the Kennedy School of Government (KSG) in either the MPP or MPA programs -- with a focus on nonprofit management or policy. This scholarship provides a one-time award of $12,000 in tuition assistance to an eligible student candidate. The Weatherhead Center for International Affairs is opening a competition for two pre-doctoral fellowships for 1999-00 for Harvard Ph.D. candidates whose research is related to transnational security or economic security issues. In addition, the Center is offering summer research travel grants for Harvard undergraduates. The grants, ranging from $500 to $3,000, are designed to help finance foreign travel for senior thesis research on international affairs. The application deadlines for both programs is March 1.
