Weatherhead Center Appoints Cooney

James A. Cooney has been appointed executive director of the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.

Cooney has served as assistant dean for international student programs at the Kennedy School of Government since 1983, where he also was an adjunct lecturer in public policy and director of the McCloy German Scholars Program. Director of the Weatherhead Center Jorge Dominguez notes that Cooneyıs background and his Harvard experience "fit in well" with the Centerıs goal to reach out to all parts of the University in international affairs.

Cooney replaces Anne Emerson, who has assumed the directorship of the Bostonian Society.
