Stauffer named 1998 NCAA Top Eight Award Recipient

The NCAA Honors Committee has named Crimson soccer sensation Emily Stauffer '98-99 one of this year's recipients of the prestigious Top Eight Awards. The prize honors eight distinguished student-athletes from the preceding calendar year for achievement in athletics, academics, and leadership. The award winners will be recognized at an honors dinner on Sunday, Jan. 10, during the NCAA Convention in San Antonio, Texas.

Stauffer adds this honor to a sagging mantelpiece. Among many other accomplishments, she was, in1994, the Ivy League Rookie of the year. She was an NSCAA/Umbro All-American in 1994, 1995, and 1996. She led the Crimson to two Ivy League titles and was one of Harvard's two Ivy League Silver Anniversary Honor Roll selections. In addition, she was a two-time finalist for the Hermann Trophy, which honors the most outstanding collegiate soccer player.

In 1995, she was an Olympic Festival all-star team selection and was a part of the women's soccer national team pool in 1997. A National Honor Society member, she achieved a 3.507 grade point average while pursuing her degree in government.
