Dean Jacobson '99 was named Burger King Football Scholar Athlete of the Week earlier this month.
In honor of his outstanding athletic and academic achievements and his commitment to mentoring the community's youth, Burger King has donated $10,000 to Harvard's general scholarship fund in Jacobson's name. The award will be presented at this Saturday's Harvard/Yale game.
While starting as center for the Crimson, Jacobson has maintained a 3.64 grade point average as a government concentrator. He is also a Red Cross volunteer.
Developed to foster the pursuit of athletic and academic excellence while encouraging community service, the Burger King College Football Scholarship program is the largest single corporate commitment of its kind in the United States.
"These athletes serve as outstanding role models of achievements in the classroom, on the football field, and in their communities," said Jim Watkins, Burger King Corp. senior vice president, North America Marketing.
