Composer Chosen for Hasty Pudding Theatricals' 151st
Annual Production
The Hasty Pudding Theatricals last week selected Michael Cohen '99 as
the composer for the Theatricals' 151st annual production, to be presented
in February and March.
This is Cohen's third time composing for the Theatricals. His work will
accompany Ben Kaplan '99 and Gregory Lau's '99 script, I Get No Kick
From Campaign, described by its authors as "a tale of political
posturing, lustful liaisons, and titillating time travel."
"Although this is my third time writing the music for the show,
I'm really just as excited, if not more, than I was the first time,"
says Cohen. "The Pudding really is a great institution, and putting
up the show is such an interactive process. Everybody works within their
particular expertise but you know in the end it's all going to come together
and be a great show.
"There was a lot of competition in the music comp this year. . .
. I feel really honored to have been picked as composer."
Hasty Pudding Vice President of the Band, Matthew Lutch '99, added, "There's
an amazing amount of talent at Harvard and deciding on this year's composer
was no easy task. Mike's music really captures the character of the lyrics
for HPT 151, which makes his tunes wonderful to perform and listen to. Campaign
is a wickedly witty script and I'm very happy that the show will have a
score with a fitting amount of character."
The show will run Feb. 18-March 21 in Cambridge, and tours in New York
and Bermuda over spring break. For ticket information, please call 495-5205.
