Semitic Museum seeks docents

The Semitic Museum is seeking volunteers to act as docents Monday through Friday. No previous experience is necessary; all volunteers will be trained. A time commitment of two hours once or twice a month is required. For information, call Dena Davis at 495-4631.

Health Services celebrates centennial

University Health Services is celebrating its centennial on Nov. 19 and 20. A variety of events will be held.

African-American perspective in religion is topic of talk

Victor Anderson, assistant professor of Christian ethics at

Vanderbilt Divinity School, will lecture at the Divinity

School on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 5:15 p.m. in the Sperry Room.

Anderson, who studied under Cornel West and received his Ph.D. in religion from Princeton University, will lecture on "American

Public Theology and the 21st Century: An African-American

Perspective."

The theologian is a former pastor in the Christian Reformed

Church. The event is free and open to the public.

World Religions Center offers fellowships

The Center for the Study of World Religions has two fellowship opportunities for 1999-2000.

Dissertation fellowships are available for any Harvard doctoral candidate whose dissertation research involves substantive study of religious phenomena. The award includes a one-year stipend of $10,000 and the option of residence at the Center.

Benefits Information Days to be held

The Benefits Services Group will conduct two Benefits Information Days. All are invited to the scheduled presentations or to consult with staff members about decisions.

The Benefits Information Days will be held on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Gutman Conference Center, Gutman Library; and Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Medical Area's Vanderbilt Hall, Vanderbilt Common Room. This year's enrollment period runs from Oct. 21 to Nov. 12.
