Office of Work and Family Adds August Vacation Camp
The Office of Work and Family is adding a late-August program
to its offerings of School Vacation Programs. The new program will run Aug.
24-28, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will offer a full day of activities
for children of faculty and staff who were enrolled in grades kindergarten
through five during the past school year. The cost for the week is $180.
For more information or for registration materials, please call the Office
of Work and Family at 495-4100. Because this is a new program, the Office
encourages parents to apply as soon as possible.
Crimson Catering Earns First Place in Horton Awards
For the third consecutive year, the Dining Services' Crimson
Catering won first place for Catering Standard Menu in the Loyal E. Horton
Awards.
Conferred recently by the National Association of College
and University Food Services (NACUFS), the Horton Awards distinguish excellence
in collegiate dining services. The Catering Standard Menu category recognizes
the full scope of a catering operation, including recipes, preparation,
presentation, delivery, customer satisfaction, and sales.
Led by Elaine Smart, assistant director for catering and
residential dining, and with a full-time staff of eight, Crimson Catering
brings in more than $1 million in sales annually.
Conferral of the Horton Award one week before graduation
was timely; Commencement Week alone included 237 catered events for groups
ranging in size from 10 to 1,200.
Wednesdays to be free of charge at Art Museums
As of July 1, admission to the Fogg, Busch-Reisinger, and
Sackler museums is free of charge on Wednesdays. This free day is in addition
to the long-established free hours on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to
noon.
In addition, anyone with a Harvard identification (who already
is admitted free) can bring in one guest for free on any day of the week.
Located on the University campus adjacent to the Yard, the
Art Museums are open seven days a week with most curatorial departments
having study rooms with public hours during which visitors can request to
see any work of art in storage. Objects in other departments may be viewed
by appointment.
Tours of all three museums will be offered on Wednesdays
in July and August. From September to June, tours are offered Monday through
Friday. The Fogg tour is at 11 a.m., the Busch-Reisinger tour is at 1 p.m.,
and the Sackler tour is at 2 p.m. For further information, call 495-9400.
