Wilkins, Soultanian to Receive HLS Awards
Professor David Wilkins and staff member Caroline Soultanian will be
honored during the 1998 Law School Commencement Ceremonies with the traditional
awards presented by the graduating class.
Wilkins, the Kirkland and Ellis Professor of Law, will receive the Albert
M. Sacks-Paul A. Freund Award for Teaching Excellence at the 1998 Law School
Class Day Ceremonies on June 3. He was elected to receive the award by a
vote of the full Class of 1998, including J.D., LL.M., and International
Tax Program candidates. The award is given every year by the graduating
class to recognize commitment to excellence and demonstrated interest in
the quality of the student experience.
"We are grateful to Professor Wilkins for his wonderful teaching,
for his respect for us as students, and for his interest in making Harvard
Law School a better place for us to learn. His engagement in our lives this
year, not only through his terrific teaching but also through his commitment
to student-organized activities such as the Charles Hamilton Houston Symposium,
has meant a great deal to us. We are pleased to recognize his concern, interest,
and commitment in this way," said Michael D. Rosenbaum, First Marshal
of the Class of 1998.
Soultanian will receive the Staff Appreciation Award at the 1998 Law
School Class Day Ceremonies. She, too, was elected by a vote of the full
Class of 1998, including J.D., L.L.M., and International Tax Program candidates.
The award is given every year to express gratitude for respect of students,
commitment to the student experience, and concern for students' lives and
work at the Law School.
"We all know of Caroline's tremendous dedication and real commitment
to our concerns and experiences as students. Her great work to help us navigate
the intricacies of Harvard Law School rules and regulations is nothing less
than angelic. We look forward with this award to recognizing her tireless
work to make Harvard Law School a better place for us to learn," said
Rosenbaum.
