Three Games, Three Wins for Cupp '98; Named Ivy League Pitcher of the Week

Tasha Cupp, a senior pitcher on the softball team, has been named the Ivy League Pitcher of the Week for the period ending April 12.

Cupp pitched 20.2 innings and recorded three wins last week. In 4.2 innings of work against Brown on Saturday, the senior fireballer held the Bears to three hits and no runs. In a complete game 5-0 shutout over Boston University on Monday, Cupp turned in a team season-high 12 strikeouts and allowed no runs and only three hits.

One of the Ivy League's most dominating pitchers, Cupp holds both the single-season and career strikeout record. Last season, she set the single-season mark with 182 strikeouts, and also broke the career record of 239. She currently has 427 strikeouts.

A three-time Second Team All Ivy League selection, Cupp has a record of 10-3 on the season with a 2.39 ERA. In 94.1 innings of work this year, Cupp has fanned 84 batters, and has kept her opponents to an .207 batting average.

Last season, Harvard finished with a 32-19-1 record, the most wins in the history of the program, placed second in the Ivy League, and was runner-up in the ECAC Tournament.
